Home made double down?

Sh1teater's home made double down

After a lively discussion on the price of sh1t – I have decided to look into the true price of what it would take for me to create my own double down style chicken uh, sandwich burger thing.

Before I break down all the costs and come to the conclusion that this is way cheaper than any burger or chicken joint could make for you I want to point a few things out in favour of ordering this from a fast food restaurant.

Firstly someone makes this sh1t for you – you don’t have to lift a finger before eating your delicious bacon double down and if you mess it up by burning the bacon because you left it on for 15 minutes instead of 10, then it will get cooked again and you don’t have to pay for any wastage.

Secondly in order to make a single portion of this, you will have to buy more than just the ingredients needed. The smallest quantity of chicken patties I could but was 5 – but of course I only needed 2 to make this. Double downs for dinner 2 nights in a row though, so this might not even be considered a problem.

Here is a list of all the sh1t I bought to make this:

QuantityPriceI usedPrice per meal
Double Down
Tegel Takeouts – Louisiana style chicken burgers5$16.492$6.60
Streaky bacon500g$12.994 slices$3.96
Cheese1 Kg$11.292 slices$0.45
Culley’s Demure Habanero sauce148ml$8.1510 ish dashes$0.54
total$48.92$11.10
Cole Slaw
a small cabbage1$1.99all$1.99
Onion1$0.23¼$0.06
Eta coleslaw dressing1$3.992 tbsp$0.29
Total:$2.34
Not pictured Drink
Sprite1.5L$4.751 glass$0.74
Total Prices$25.65$13.44

Well sh1t on me and call me Colonel, that isn’t that much cheaper at all. I was unsure if 15.99 was good value for a double down these days, but toiling in the kitchen myself with common supermarket ingredients only allowed me to make it for $11.10 – a whopping saving of $4.89

of course I have to also but the ingredients in packets that contain more than one serving and to get what I need for a double down alone would cost me $48.92 of capital, from that I could only make 2.5 double downs for which gives us a price of $19.57 per!!

Also since when did 1.5l of sprite cost $4.75 ?

Yeah that is just how much sh1t costs these days…

home made double down ingredients

To make the items I have talked about in this post I have included links to the products you will need – note that these are paid links – of course they are – but I need to specifically say that now or I am not sure what happens. Google extradites you to the US to pay millions in advertising reparations or something – I don’t know but I am not taking that risk.

To make

Homemade double downs – easy – just grill the chicken burger patties and bacon as instructed on the packet and assemble with cheese and I have drizzled some Culley’s Demure sauce on mine because I made habanero double downs. This sauce has minimal spice and just allows the delicious flavour of habanero to be enjoyed by people with even the lowliest of heat resistance.

Cole slaw – I try to make this as close to the KFC flavour as possible. Chop a huge amount of the cabbage up and add coleslaw dressing with 1/4 grated onion and/or onion powder to taste ( a little goes a long way). Add vinegar salt and black pepper to taste. If you are feeling rich, add some carrot.
