I don’t think this is new, but first I’ve seen it.
The chip aisle is one of the many areas in the supermarket where I like to spend extra time hunting for sh1t. I like to stop abruptly and pivot 90° on my heels to face the wall of coloured packaging. I then stand motionless like The Terminator for the better part of a minute, my eyes flicking left to right and up and down behind my shades scanning for something that I haven’t tried yet.
Protip: Always wear shades inside supermarkets to prevent eye strain from looking too hard at food under bright fluorescent lighting.
Not seeing anything on this particular occasion, I turned, ready to resume my hunt. Suddenly the visual information that I had just dumped into my neuronet processor properly compiled and I swiveled my head back to the chips so quickly that the shades flung from my eyes into a nearby stroller.
I don’t believe I have ever seen pineapple flavoured chips before – corn or otherwise.
Okay so this is actually ‘Pineapple Salsa’ flavoured corn chips from good ole Proper Crisps . The word ‘Salsa’ is a word that I have seen used in conjunction with corn chip before, and its presence makes me feel much more comfortable with this flavour.
Pineapple (or piña in Spanish) originated in South America and spread up through Central America and West Indies to Mexico. I couldn’t find the exact origins of a pineapple salsa, but it would follow that a salsa made from pineapple, mango and jalapenos would’ve been a legit thing that tortilla or corn chip eating peoples of yore would’ve made and eaten – and not some random flavour experiment as was my first impression.
The smell that emanated from the packaging when opened was the sweet rich smell of pineapple and pineapple came through strongly in the taste as well as a hint of mango before the gentle spiciness of jalapenos rounded out this sweet salsa flavour. These had the perfect amount of sweetness and worked really well with the corn chip, which by the way was excellently crispy, and not too heavy in texture.
Mesoamerican cultures also loved the piñas – 6.5/10

What’s up, its fastidious paragraph about media print, we all understand media is a fantastic source of facts.
Hello The Flat,
That is an excellent combination of words. Maybe if you put them in a different order it might make some sense.
