Kettle Chip Company – Thai Chilli & Wild Lime

Looking back over this account, I am surprised to see I have not done a ‘Kettle Chip Company’ review before. Maybe that is because they have no Instagram account. I had better check the website on the back of the packet…

Oh sh1t: I can’t connect to the server at www.kettlechipcompany.co.nz . Is this the end of the kettle chip company? Is my first review of one of their products the last?

No, no, calm down folks – looks like the kettle chip company is actually part of the ‘ETA & Friends’ brand. And they  do have and Instagram account ( @etafoods ) so I can still chase the clout by tagging them into my post.

Let us abruptly pivot from New Zealand chip company structures to Thai Chilli & Wild Lime structures, as that is what I originally planned on posting about before getting distracted by the alarming disappearance of the Kettle Chips Company’s website.

(ETA was acquired by Griffins in 1987. Griffins. ETA. Kettle Chip Company. They are all the same company! Wake up people! Follow the money! Thai chilli can’t melt steel beams!)

Chilli and lime are like the VIPs  of the Thai food world and together with the mighty coconut they have been creating flavour combinations so delicious over there, that have become popular all over the sh1t show. Anyone NOT like Thai food?

When I think of chilli and lime I think of hot, humid climates like the one I am trying to continue to exist in at this very moment as I type this. And Thailand.

The ferocious Wild Lime suddenly pounced on me with only the citrus scented air as a warning making  it’s aromatic, zingy entrance on this chip, first refreshing and invigorating before the chilli gently crept in with a kick building in spiciness, ensuring I was now well awake. I found this to be a great flavour for eating in the current muggy, hot weather. It wiped the lazy dumb look right off of my face.

It seems like every chip I try recently has some sort of citrus trend and honestly I am starting to get into it. These were limey and chilli-y and good.

A wild lime appears – 7/10

    1. Hello Slot,
Thank you very much! Your room mate kept talking about Thai Chilli and Lime? That is pretty weird.
Please do forward it to him, are you still flatmates, by the way? If one of my flatmates kept talking about chilli and lime, I probably would’ve moved out!
