Hell Pizza – Morning After Pizza
When you think of Christmas, what do you think of?
That’s right, a pizza for breakfast, well brunch -because who is going to get up for breakfast?
In New Zealand it is traditional around Christmas to go and visit family and friends in the morning and then some more family and friends in the afternoon and if you are (un)lucky enough to have lots of family and friends, you go and visit more family and friends after that.
That is a lot of visits, and of course you will be expected to have some snacks and/or meals and a drink or three with every single one of them. Wouldn’t want Uncle Jimward to be offended that you didn’t have a try of his homemade limoncello, would you?
No bullsh1t this time, I have it on good authority that NZ Christmases do pan out just like I described.
So what happens when you bed down that night at 8.30, eyes hooded due to a combination of too much food and too much drink and too much merriment, wake up the next morning or (early afternoon) with a fuzzy head and a ravenous hunger? (Also, why do I always seem to wake up hungry when I go to bed too full of food?)
After checking the fridge and cursing yourself for not bringing home any of the leftover plates that the more maternal of your friends and family members insisted that you take home with you (too much trouble – they would go off waiting in the car at your next social engagement.) why not get Hell pizza to make you one of these – the new Morning After Pizza?
I checked, btw and they said it is okay to eat during the afternoon after too.
This is a brunch style pizza topped with Triple Smoked ham (which is one smoke better than double smoked ham), Crispy hash (no, I think they mean hash brown, pieces of hash brown), Chorizo, bacon, mushroom and onions and topped with a generous swirl of Truffle Hollandaise sauce.
Basically we are looking at an incredibly hearty breakfast dumped on top of a pizza, what could go wrong?
Answer is nothing, nothing at all – this was an amazing. The toppings ran thick and chunky and the sauce was rich and delicious and helped it all go down smoothly.
