Here’s a new flavour from Fanta, but what is it?
Yes. It is.
It is What’s the Fanta flavour.
Fanta used to be my go to soft drink until they started putting artificial sweeteners in it, and yes, this one is another zero sugar drink, so if you are watching sugars then feel free to go crazy on this one.
Of course, I do love a mystery and couldn’t resist grabbing one when I saw it.
So here’s the deal:
Fanta makes a weird flavour and calls it something edgy, like WTF and we all drink it and discuss it amongst ourselves, and famous social media influencers and content creator flock to it because it makes for a post with high interaction, and there is competition to guess the flavour correctly on a newly created sub domain on the official Fanta website.
Also they also made a frozen one and partnered with Burger King NZ to further promote. I am actually unsure if the frozen BK one is a different flavour or not because there is a different place to guess on the website, but all the clues seem the same.
I was worried about ruining the mystery, but it seems that it has already been ruined by announcing the mystery flavour in the UK. I can’t guaranty it is exactly the same flavour, but everything adds up to this being the same. We haven’t even had all of the clues released yet here! Also I was reading the terms and conditions of the WTF competition and it says that you go in the draw to get $5000 even if you guess incorrectly. So I guess it is just a random draw under the guise of a competition.
But whatever, it is a bit of fun and as I mentioned before, this sort of product is sh1teater bait, so I certainly don’t mind, +1 point
I didn’t really enjoy this to be perfectly honest, mostly due to the artificial sweetener leaving a bitter aftertaste, but the flavour was weird too. It started off ok, mostly tasted like an unidentifiable candy ‘red’ flavour like a fruity strawberry, raspberry, cherry ,whatever. Then can a weird flavour, tasted to me like alcohol or some other fermentation process had gotten to the fruit. What is that smelly fruit called? Durian? I don’t even know what that is supposed to taste like, but that was my guess.
After looking it up and finding out what the flavour was, I was reasonably correct in my initial assessment, but way off on my actual guess. Gingerly taking another sip, I have to hand it to them, it does kind of taste like the obscure flavour they were going for.
