believe this is the first time Monster has appeared on this account and I have a few questions first:
What is this sh1t actually called? There are a few too many words on the front. It is in the ‘Monster Energy Drink’ family and the species is ‘Papillion’? Have I got that right? What is the ‘Juice’ part? Is ‘ Juice’ the genus? Is ‘Juice Monster’ a thing? Or is it Monster Energy Juice?
And finally, what the sh1t is a Papillon? It’s a butterfly, right? Oh no, it is a dog apparently – a Papillion is a type of a dog. Damn I look forward to how that is going to taste…
Best I check the back of the packaging.
Okay, so this is ‘named for the humble butterfly’ – I was correct the first time – and ‘has a light subtle flavour with hints of peach and nectarine’
Cracking this open and taking several swigs I judged this to be neither light nor subtle – it intensely tasted like peach and a bit like nectarine. That wasn’t ‘hints of peach and nectarine’ – It was exactly ‘tastes like peach and nectarine’ I don’t know what the benchmark is. Maybe it is subtle compared to other Monster energy varieties. Maybe all Monster energy drinkers have lower sensitivity in their tastebuds due to sculling back multiple cans of Monster everyday…
It was good though – very (too) sweet and tangy, tasted like a hybrid juice/energy drink with the best of both worlds.
This is a full sugared drink, but I guess it wasn’t sweet enough for Monster who also added artificial sweetener, sucralose which left a slightly gummy taste in my mouth, but not too offensive, if factly only after I had drank the whole can and cleared my throat did I notice something was different. Sucralose is supposed to be one of the more palatable sweeteners and it wasn’t too bad in this, but I totally knew it was there.
