World Chocolate Day is on July 7
I awoke this morning with the anxious feeling that I had forgotten something important.
Suddenly all at once, my sleep fuddled head cleared and I sat bolt upright in bed… Sh1t! It’s International Chocolate Day today! Covers took to the air as I hurled myself out of bed and skidded around the door frame into the hall and slid to the vault.
Shaking hands fumbled with the key that I always wear around my neck and I had to enter the code 4 times before I engaged the buttons in the correct order. Finally a few fractions of a second slowly stretched by as the fingerprint reader confirmed the identity of sh1teater and the massive doors to the vault swung open to reveal a huge room populated only by a jar of pickles, a layer of dust and several cobwebs.
Sh1t! Out of chocolate again! I ran from my lair and up the street, my bed robes flailing out behind me like a cape. I arrived at my local dairy covered head to toe in mud after skittering over several times on the way. Just as well because I had completely forgotten to don my Chocolate costume in my haste to leave the house.
Sh1t again! I was too late – the rush had begun and the chocolate shelves were bare already the only thing remotely chocolate left was this weird looking packet of Mentos. So today we will be reviewing something from everyone’s favourite chocolate manufacturer – um… Mentos.
I don’t know how I keep ending up reviewing Mentos sh1t all the time, must be fated in some way, perhaps the reasons will become clear when the stars align just right, but to be fair Mentos has been doing a lot of new sh1t recently and good to see this one moving even further out of the Mentos norm.
This Mentos a is a ‘caramel chew filled with chocolate’. The ‘caramel chew’ matter is chewy and vaguely caramel-like but thicker and more mentos like so that it doesn’t stick to the teeth quite so much. The chocolate centre is vaguely chocolate with a slight nutty flavour. The chocolate disperses into the caramel as you chew and actually works pretty well. I guess you would still class this as a dragee…
