Happy news years, hope you all had a good time doing whatever sh1t that y’all did during the holidays. I did sh1t all, but managed to keep my labellum and maxillary palps out of Instagram for a few days or so. All the while though, the blazing sun and typical Auckland mug left me contemplating some sh1t that @nawrmusicnz put me on to. Eventually I was compelled to go down to the local Maccadaccas to secure me one of these here McFlurries.
I have previously named @mcdonaldsnz as the most American restaurant (too generous? Ok… fast food eatery) that we can get down here and me mate Ron has stepped the yankeeness up another notch and increased the apple pie offering on the dessert menu.
The McDonald’s apple pie has always been one of the more popular items on the menu and if you haven’t tried one before you probably should. It is a splendid pastry filled with sweet, gooey, and usually hotter than the core of the sun, slag-like apple filling.
Throwing that sh1t into a McD’s soft serve ice cream seems like an ill advised thing to do as rapid cooling of superheated, igneous apple is likely to cause a rapid cooling that could result in explosion, but at least I will be able to eat it without burning 3 layers of skin off of the inside of my mouth.
This Mcflurry was full of pastry chunks (surprisingly not soggy after their swim in the ice cream), little pieces of sweet apple and pockets of caramel rendered super chewy in the cold. Ever had apple pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream? It was like that except in reverse. Delicious.
We’ll just tell your mother we ate it all – 7.5/10
