Heartland – Out of this World Mash Up Potato Chips

Has this ever happened to you:

You have been hankering for a snack all day and finally your basest instincts have led you to stand in front of a giant wall of potato chip packets in a supermarket wondering if you should get maple bacon, sour cream and chives or salt and vinegar? Have you ever spent so long deciding that you expire due to malnutrition right there in front of everyone?

Never again.

This is the kind of idea that a child would’ve come up with, or Jono and Ben, and I am totally supportive of it, having passed into the next life whilst deciding on snack foods several times myself. The concept is simple: Mix all the best(?) potato chip flavours together in one bag: Maple Bacon, Sour Cream & Chives and Salt & Vinegar. 

I actually didn’t know much about the story surrounding this monstrosity, last I heard from Jono and Ben they were making hamburgers or some sh1t. Now it looks like they have got a job with a radio station called The  ̶Sh̶i̶t̶s̶ Hits as astronauts maybe? This packet is so crowded and littered with text that I have no idea what is going on. I hope I got the name of the product right at least.

The research team is still away on Halloween break, so I went over to the website of ‘The Hits’ and downloaded the relevant Jono & Ben podcasts, but it was a total sh1tshow and didn’t help in the least. They helped launch this new heartland chip flavour, then the University of Canterbury sent the chips to space with a helium balloon. What? Yeah, really. No sh1t.

I still don’t know what is going on. My head hurts. I am going to stick with what I know best and just eat.

Tasted mostly of the smoky, sweet flavour of the Maple Bacon then finished with a strong acidic kick of salt and vinegar. Only after I had finished like half a packet did I start to taste a hint of  the sour cream and chives. No idea why it took so long to come through perhaps some of my less sensitive taste buds needed to burn off. 

I like them very much. The sum of the flavours are greater than the whole
