Here we are – the 6th Turkish treat from the @turkishtreatbox and your votes have picked this.
First up, let us try and figure out what this sh1t is…
Eti – we have seen this name before, a Turkish company that seems to make all manner of delicious sh1t. I have come across the Eti Cin, in particular as whenever you type anything about turkish treats into Google, the Eti Cin pops up, seems like a very famous and popular treat.
What does cin mean?
Let me just look that up… China? I am starting to think that Google translate isn’t very strong on the Turkish language front. No Google, China seems to be – Çin, with that squiggly upside down question mark looking thing hanging off of the ‘c’.
A consultation with the research team said it could mean gin, but also is the word for genie or elf or goblin or some other fantastical, magical being like that. That kind of fits as a name for a line of treats. Maybe that is what the heart-eyed, smiling face on the front of the package is meant to be.
Specifically this flavour is:
Portakal – Orange
Soslu – with sauce
Bisküvi – Biscuit
That means we have here an orange with a biscuit sauce. Maybe, I should massage the words around a little bit… Orange saucy biscuit. Hang on, I will check Eti website. Ah ha! Orange Jelly Biscuit! I was close…
This appears to be a biscuit base shaped just like the base of a pie base and filled with orange ‘jelly’ that reminded me very much in consistency, of that jammy sh1t in a Shrewberry biscuit, and sealed off with a topping of chocolate sprinkles.
The ‘jelly’ tasted very much of orange, not fake orange flavour, but actual oranges. I could even taste a bit of orange zest. (Why do they call it zest? I guess because calling it orange peel isn’t very ap’peel’ing). The chocolate went so well with the citrusy orange flavour and I got a bit of a ‘Jaffa’ vibe from it.
He who has not cin – 7.5/10
