by Here is another attempt to collab/mash-up/fusion, this time combining the tried and true Cadbury Dairy Milk and the famous Pascall Pineapple Lumps.
At least that is what I think is going on here. I noticed that it is clearly pointed out that it is ‘‘inspired by’ Pascall Pineapple Lumps on the front of the packet, suggesting that the shit in the chocolate may not be Pineapple lumps at all. Perhaps a tribute? I do hope the Cadbury brothers ran this past Mr. James Pascall first – I don’t want to be promoting any bootlegged product on this account.
I went to Cadbury first who directed me to their owners, Mondelēz International, Inc, who informed me that Cadbury owns Pascall and they can damn well do whatever shit they like with Pineapple Lumps.
A faint imitation pineapple scent greeted my nostrils as I opened the packet and removed the chocolate. Investigating further I found that the Pineapple Lumps weren’t even lumps at all, much smaller than the lumps, they were more like pineapple fragments. It may have been my imagination, but I also found the yellow shrapnel to be softer than Pineapple Lumps, otherwise still very chewy and they tasted about the same as far as I could tell.
Those of you who are observant may have noticed the little tag: ‘Now with more allergen!’ proudly displayed on the front of the packet. I, for one, am a huge fan of allergen and quickly turned over the pack to find out what it was.
*Spoiler alert* – It is wheat.
That isn’t new. Wheat is a pretty common allergen. 🙁 Eating this shit is pretty much like eating normal Pineapple Lumps, with higher chocolate to lump ratio. The lab shows normal PL to have a ratio of 1:5 choc to lump where as this shit hovers more like around 3:1 choc to lump. The density of fragments in a single square can vary a fair bit though.
The chocolate and pineapple marshmallow goes well together and this is indeed a tasty treat, exactly what you would expect from a mash up like this. What did you all think of this shit?
